What’s It All For?

What are you doing, and why are you doing it? Two questions that I found myself continually asking during my final two years in BigLaw. There wasn’t a lightbulb moment, just a slow sinking realisation that I wasn’t happy and I needed meaning.

The problem was that as a lawyer in a top 10 international firm for 11 years, I had no idea if I could do anything else. Once a lawyer always a lawyer right?

The problem with BigLaw, or any demanding corporate role, is that you’re in a bubble. And when you’re deep within that bubble, it’s hard to think about or see anything outside the bubble. As a result, although you may reach a point where you begin to question whether what you’re doing still serves you, everything around you makes you believe your options are limited.

So when I left, I knew I wanted to change that. I wanted to help others, who found themselves in the position I was in, to start to live a life of intention, not reaction. To take control of their life and not allow themselves to wake up one day and realise that they’d ended up somewhere they didn’t want to be. That was my purpose, and it left me excited and…
